As we discussed in our yesterday’s preview, England Lions are a very good side & do not judge India-A’s performance purely on the basis of the practice games dominance.
The way Lions won yesterday, will be harsh to say but WI-A stand no chance in this series.
Just a little better, Australian National side would have been a better competitor.
Talking about dominance, WI-A completely dominated England Lions the last time they toured WI. But, it will be a complete opposite result this time.
Gubbins, Cadmore, Hain, Livingstone, Foakes (Wk), Mullaney (C), Dawson, Jordan, Helm, Topley, Parkinson.
*Parkinson who was surprisingly left out yesterday has to play today considering his record against WI-A. Though, the conditions are nowhere close to the ones he played before but he’s done exceedingly well in English conditions as well with white ball. (In Royal One Day cup)
*Fisher is the most likely one to be benched. Though, Lions can rotate any of their seamers giving them rest particularly Helm & Topley due to back to back games.
As it’s Jordan’s last game in the series, Fisher should be the one to sit out.
*While creating your team, make sure you pick more of the top order batsman from Lions who can score big & atleast their 3 bowlers who are likely to bowl their full quota of overs.
Chandrapaul Hemraj, Blackwood, Jason (C), McCarthy/Ambris, Thomas (wk), Cornwall, Powell, Reifer, Worrican, Thomas, Holder.
*Jason Mohammed with two consecutive tons in the practice games is the only WI-A batsman you should pick along with Blackwood. Or picking only Mohammed along with an extra WI all-rounder would be a wiser move.
*Cornwall is a quality all-rounder & should be your first pick if you are picking only 4 players from WI-A. Powell & Reifer are value for money as well.
*In the bowling department, Warrican is the only reliable choice & was almost unplayable when last time Lions toured WI. But will he be effective on these English tracks is debatable.
Oshane Thomas is another one whom you can consider. Bowls with express pace & is a genuine tall & lanky West Indian bowler.
