Match: Otago Volts Vs Central Districts
Time: 3:30 IST
Venue: University Oval, Dunedin, NZ.
Average score: 263
Pitch: Expected to be good for batting but sometimes the wicket has been on the slower side in few games. First game in Dunedin in Ford Trophy 2018, so can be a good batting track unless of course, Otago repeats their last game’s batting performance.
Doug Bracewell (c), Josh Clarkson, Ma’ara Ave (Wk), Greg Hay, Christian Leopard, Willem Luddick, Ryan McCone, Felix Murray, Foxcroft, Bevan Small, Ben Smith, Ben Wheeler.
Expected Playing 11:
Hay, Smith, Foxcroft (Debut), Clarkson, Ludick/Leopard, Bracewell (C), Wheeler, Ave (Wk), McCone, Small, Murray.
* Wheeler is fit & will play tomorrow which is a huge boost for CD considering he’s a quality all rounder who always contributes with both bat & ball & will be a key player for the rest of the tournament.
*One of Ludick or Leopard has to make way for Foxcroft. Ludick has been really impressive in the Plunkett Shield games but couldn’t convert that momentum in the white ball format. If he gets a couple of opportunities more, can be a really good bet in the gl’s.
*Clarkson who had a great tournament last year (Both 50 over & T20) has failed till now but has a great record playing at Dunedin. (Also scored a ton last year at the same venue)
Mark Craig (CC), Jacob Duffy (CC), Matthew Bacon, Warren Barnes, Neil Broom, Josh Finnie, Shawn Hicks, Anaru Kitchen, Mitch Renwick, Michael Rippon, Hamish Rutherford, Nathan Smith.
Expected Playing 11:
Rutherford, Renwick (wk), Broom, Hicks, Kitchen, Finnie, Rippon/Barnes, Nathan Smith, Craig (CC), Duffy, Bacon.
*Rippon’s exclusion in the last two games has been really surprising to me specially because Otago’s batting has been a big concern for them this season (in red ball too) & Rippon has chiped with 30,50+ scores coming late in the innings. As otago are playing at home, Rippon should be back tomorrow if he’s fit.
*Kitchen who gave a -1 in the Dream11 fantasy scorecard in the last game is a quality player & shouldn’t he ignored. I did mentioned in my first preview that he has just returned from injury & can be rusty, which certainly proved to be. But now when he has played 3 games, you shouldn’t drop Kitchen at all.
