Supersmash: Auckland Aces Vs Canterbury Kings Dream11 Team & Preview

Venue: Eden Park, Outer Oval,

Pitch & Conditions:

Eden Park has been a very high scoring ground due to its short boundaries & excellent batting conditions. Recently concluded Ford Trophy & last Super Smash recorded some really high scoring totals as well.

Squad Changes:

Aces: McCleneghan, Solia & Vince in
           Fergusan, Guptill & Munro out.
Kings: None

Expected 11:

Solia, Vince, Phillips (wk), Chapman, Cachopa (C), O’Donnell, Hira, Somerville, McCleneghan, Quinn, Lister.
*Either Vince or Phillips will open alongside Solia & rest of the order will be same as the last game.

Ellis, Bowes, Murdoch, Fletcher (wk), McConchie (C), Carter, Jamieson, Shipley, Nuttall, Lortan, Benton.
*Lortan was surprisingly preferred over Williams in the last game & didn’t even bowled a single delivery.

My Dream11 Team:

Wk: Phillips
Batsmen: Bowes, Murdoch, Vince, Chapman
(Alternative: Cachopa, O’Donnell)
Allrounders: Ellis, Solia, McConchie
Bowlers:  McCleneghan, Somerville, Nuttall/Hira.

My Power Players:

Phillips: Scored a first ball duck in the last game but he’s in good touch scoring in Plunkett shield & warm up game against Hurricanes.
He’ll be playing at Auckland, where he probably bats the best & has an exceptional record.
Solia: Sean Solia had an extremely good Ford Trophy season as an allrounder & should be looking to repeat the same in Super Smash as well. But, with quality bowling  options available, he’ll be under-utilised with the ball.
Can bowl anything between 0-4 overs which is totally dependent on how other 5 bowlers bowl.
Chapman (GL): Chapman lost his mojo just after he was selected to play for BlackCaps. Since then, he’s still trying to re-establish himself & has shown some positive signs scoring 37 & 89 against the same opposition in Plunkett shield. Also, he has a T20 ton against Canterbury in Supersmash.
Ellis: Usually plays at 6-7 in T20’s for Kings but was asked to open in the last game, which wasn’t a bad move but didn’t paid off.
Can be a safe choice for you in small leagues considering 10-15 runs at the top plus a wicket or a two is good enough for a captain/vice-captain.
But, he’s a miss & hit player & don’t expect him to be consistent.

Grand league picks:

Although, majority of the runs at Auckland are scored by the top 3. But with Munro, Guptill unavailable & Vince just playing his first game, if there’s a top order collapse then
Cachopa & O’Donnell who are usually very consistent with the bat can be great picks for grand leagues.
Also, Nuttall who went for 53 in the last game in just 3.3 overs is a pretty decent bowler who unfortunately, had a terrible day. Because he’ll be again bowling in death, he can pick a couple of wickets which can be decisive in a high scoring game.
Good Luck & do upvote if you like the analysis!
