Venue: Hagley Oval, Christchurch
Pitch & Conditions:
Hagley Oval is a decent batting track with an average score of around 165 (recent games) & a little assistance to spinners.
Cole McConchie (c), Jeremy Benton, Chad Bowes, Leo Carter, Andrew Ellis, Cameron Fletcher (wk), Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Steve Murdoch, Edward Nuttall, Henry Shipley, Will Williams.
Dean Brownlie(c), Anton Devcich, Peter Bocock(wk), Chris Jordan ,Neil Wagner, Mitchell Santner, Scott Kugglejin, Tarun Nethula, Brett Hampton, Daryl Mitchell, Dan Flynn, C Anderson
Bowes, Latham, Murdoch, McConchie (C), Ellis, Carter, Fletcher (wk), Jamieson, Shipley/Williams, Benton, Nuttall.
*With Latham available , Ellis should be demoted in the middle order & can also be used as a finisher.
*Kings can give a game to Will Williams, who had a good Ford Trophy season. In that case, Shipley should be the one to miss out, as he was playing over Williams to strengthen Kings batting which is looking much stronger now, with Latham joining them.
Devcich, Brownlie (C), Mitchell, Anderson, Flynn, Santner, Bocock (wk), Jordan, Kuggeleijn, Wagner, Nethula.
*The reason of Wagner’s non-inclusion in the last game is still unknown. Expecting he’s fit, (as he’s still in the squad) should replace Hampton.
My Dream11 Team:
Batsmen: Brownlie, Mitchell, Latham, Murdoch/Bowes
(Both Murdoch & Bowes are in good touch, but if you have to choose one, Murdoch has a better record at Christchurch & also against Knights)
Allrounders: McConchie, Devcich, Jamieson/Ellis
(Ellis isn’t as effective down the order & if you have to choose solely on bowling abilities, then Jamieson by far, is a better pick)
Bowlers: Jordan, Kuggeleijn, Nethula.
Alternative: Nuttall (Do pick him in GL’s)
For small leagues, Devicich, McConchie & Latham are the best picks.
For Grand leagues:
Nethula, Jordan (will be playing his last game for Knights tomorrow), Santner & Brownlie.
Good Luck & do upvote if you like the analysis.
