Momentum ODI Cup: Cape Cobras Vs Warriors Dream11 Team & Analysis:

0
157

Venue: Boland Park, Paarl

Pitch & Conditions:

An average scoring ground which has something for everyone, whether you’re a batsman, a spinner or a medium pacer.

Although the last few games in the Mzansi Super League hasn’t been very high scoring & had more assistance to the spinners.

Official Squads:

Cape Cobras:

Dane Piedt (c), David Bedingham, Tladi Bokako, Isaac Dikgale, JP Duminy, Zubayr Hamza, George Linde, Janneman Malan, Pieter Malan, Akhona Mnyaka, Dane Paterson, Jason Smith, Kyle Verreynne.

Warriors:

Cloete, Magala, Vallie, Qeshile, Smuts (C), Jonker, Nyaku, Kaber, Sipamla, Birch, Marais, Langa, Breetzke.

Predicted XI’s:

Cobras:

J Malan, P Malan, Hamza, Smith, Verreynne (wk), Linde, Dikgale, Piedt (C), Paterson, Bokako, Mnyaka

*Duminy has been named in the squad but is unavailable for this game & will return for the home game against Knights on Feb 19.

*Both Malans will open the batting, followed by Hamza which makes a very solid top 3 for Cobras.

Warriors:

Cloete, Breetzke, Vallie, Smuts (C), Qeshile (Wk), Jonker, Nyaku, Kaber, Birch, Magala, Sipamla

*Breetzke & Cloete are expected to open. If Smuts decides to open with Cloete, then Breetzke will be moved one down followed by Vallie.

*Only one of Kaber & Marais are expected to play. With Kaber providing more balance to the side due to his bowling, Marais has to sit out.

From the Vault:

(This section gives you player performance insights after analysing all the white ball games between the two sides till now & also at the same venue)

Cobras Opener Peter Malan, was the top tournament scorer last season & one of his centuries came at this venue. And that wasn’t the only knock, he has some very good numbers here & also against Warriors. (Scored 84 last time)

George Linde also likes to bowl against Warriors & even the surface at Paarl has been quite friendly to him. Although he has handful of wickets against Warriors,  but 6 of his wickets came in a single game.

Jonker too, had played some explosive knocks againts Cobras at an incredible strike rate . But his recent form in the Mzansi Super League was very poor as per his standard.

Has the ability to win a game on his own, but for now, he isn’t playing upto his potential.

My Dream11 Team:

Wk: Qeshile

(Both Verreynne & Qeshile are in very good touch & are scoring heavily in the recent games but i have gone with unpopular choice of Qeshile, who i feel will get more opportunity to bat as Warriors batting lineup is looking thin on paper)

Batsmen: Cloete, Hamza, P Malan, J Malan.

(Alternative: Vallie for Cloete)

Allrounders: Smuts, Linde, Smith

(Alternatives only for GL’s: Kaber & Nyaku)

Bowlers: Birch, Magala, Paterson.

(Alternatives: Sipamla, Bokako, Mnyaka)

(You can also go with Peter Malan as VC in small leagues in place of Linde)

Grand league picks:

Peter Malan, Hamza, Mnyaka, Vallie.
