From the Vault:
(This section gives you player performance insights after analysing all the white ball games the two teams over the years)
Basically, Cobras Vs Knights, especially at Mangaung, has been bowler’s contest.
For Cobras, Paterson & Rory have been the chief destroyers. While De Lange, Budaza & Van Schalkwyk have done the job for Knights.
In the batting department, Biljon has been the stand out performer for Knights. Unfortunately, for Cobras, there’s nobody from this current squad who could feature in this section.
(Would have picked Second over him, but Second has been left out from the declared squad, so Verreynne is a straight pick.)
Batsmen: P Malan, J Malan, Peterson, Biljon/Gous
(Biljon isn’t enjoying a great run with the bat but he’s still their best batsman & his numbers speaks for himself. Gous on the other hand, had a better red ball season & will keep in Second’s absence, meaning a few additional catching points)
Allrounders: Smith, Linde, McLaren.
(Rory is an excellent pick for GL’s)
Bowlers: De Lange, Peidt, Paterson.
(Alternatives: Budaza, Van Schalkwyk)
As the conditions aren’t looking too batting friendly, backing all rounders & bowlers will be a better bet.
McLaren, Paterson, De Lange can be very effective at this deck.
But if you want to play safe, you can go with an obvious choice of Jason Smith, but I don’t expect him to bowl full 10 overs, like he did in the last game.
Good Luck & do upvote if you like the analysis.
