Section 7: Finding the fantasy value:

Top picks:

Bumrah (bowling second): Doesn’t matter how the Sharjah wicket behaves, Bumrah will still be my top captaincy choice. If you’re expecting MI to win, and they’re defending the total, no better choice than Bumrah. Can infact, even try in first innings as well. Good numbers against RR & also at Sharjah.

Bumrah vs RR (bowling second):

Innings 7
Overs 26
Wickets 10
Average 18.7
SR15.6
BBI4/20

Bumrah at Sharjah:

Innings 3
Overs12
Wickets 5
Average 19
SR14.4

Captaincy suitability: Both small & grand leagues.

Sanju Samson: The new ‘consistent’ Sanju Samson is scoring runs with ease in almost every game in the second half & is now back at his favourite venue in UAE – Sharjah. Although, the wicket is not anywhere close to what he got last year, but in the current form, he will be a great captaincy choice once again.

Sanju at Sharjah:

Innings 4
Runs216
Average 54
SR184
503
HS85

Sanju last 5 innings vs Mumbai: 42(27), 54(31), 0(3), 35(19), 31(26)

Captaincy suitability: Both small & grand leagues.

QDK: (chasing): Always a very safe bet as fantasy captain. Although, not very reliable in slow conditions but the Sharjah wicket did play better in the last RCB vs PBKS game. The best time to bat here is in the PP, and QDK can make the best use of it. Played a match winning knock against the Royals in the last fixture at Delhi. No particular bowler who has troubled him in past, but the two leggies in tandem could be a wicket taking threat against him.

QDK vs RR: (his highest average against any IPL team)

Innings 7
Runs313
Average 52.17
SR142
503
HS81

QDK at Sharjah:

Innings 5
Runs173
Average 43.25
SR132
HS67

Captaincy suitability: Both small & grand leagues.

Suryakumar Yadav (batting first): Last knock of 33(26) at the same venue against a quality DC bowling would have given him the much needed confidence. Got out on a full toss, otherwise, looked all set for a big knock. No major wicket taking threat in the current RR bowling lineup and has good numbers against them as well.

SKY vs RR (batting first)

Innings 6
Runs279
Average 55.8
SR143
502
HS79*

Evin Lewis: Will be playing against his former IPL team for the first time, not a huge sample size but has played Bumrah well. (20* off 8). Has performed at much slower decks in the CPL, so Sharjah wicket shouldn’t be a huge challenge for him.

Captaincy suitability: Both small & grand leagues.

Other choices:

Rahul Tewatia (bowling second): Mini GL & GL.

Glenn Philips (batting first): Mini GL & GL.
